CHALLENGE
The project involved constructing evaporation ponds for potash salt extraction. The challenge was to ensure that the ponds were watertight above the ground level to prevent the loss of valuable brine and protect the surrounding environment from contamination.
GROUND CONDITIONS
The site featured peat soils with high water content and low bearing capacity. The Ecoseal sheet piles provided a durable and watertight solution that prevented water outflow and supported the ecological function of the peatland.
SOLUTION
Ecoseal vinyl sheet piles were installed to create an impermeable barrier that maintained groundwater levels in the peatland. The sheet piles were driven to a depth of 12 feet and extended 3 feet above ground. The installation was carried out using an excavator bucket, simply pressing sheet piles into the ground.
